This post is going to be kinda personal to me, because I’m tired of hearing about women dying while giving birth for things that could have been prevented. No, I’m not a doctor but I’m a loving, caring and knowledgeable doula with a specialty in monitoring prenatal care and advocacy.
Don’t Take No!
Mom’s before you get pregnant you should already have a relationship with your OBGYN so there for you at least have some kind of connection and they will care enough to make sure you have a successful pregnancy experience. Please don’t ever go into something this serious blindly because some of these doctors just see you as a money sign especially if they think you’re going to need a Caesarean (pausing because I’m angry). When I doctor tells you your pain is normal and you think it’s not tell them you want them to do their job are you want someone else who will but baby girl please don’t leave that hospital without getting help. Sometimes your life depends on it.
Building Support
I’m a doula in Texas but my clients are in Houston metropolitan areas, I will travel for a fee. If you can’t afford a doula ask your husband, mama, sister or brother to come with you as support and a witness if you’re in a pain that you never felt before. You know your own body and when a pain doesn’t feel right speak up and speak often if something’s not right.
